Artist Robert Hartwig lived and worked in the Central African country of Chad/Tchad from 2013 to 2020. His work took him from the capital city of N’Djamena to the southern city of Sarh, and a good number of small towns and villages in-between. He met and worked with many good, hard working people; shared world-views and experiences; taught, learned, and listened; and took photographs that would later serve as references for his creative art.

Child of God: The insects known as giant red velvet mites (Trombidiidae) are referred to in some cultures as the "Children of God" due to their emergence shortly after a good rain.

Fabrication des Briques: Cooking bricks makes them stronger. It is said a good cooked mud brick may last 10 years or more. In many places, the kiln used to fire harden these mud bricks is made of the bricks themselves.
